About the Position:
This position is located in the Department of Surgery, Department of Preoperative Nursing, Main Operating Room, at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, MD. The incumbent will be responsible for performing and coordinating logistical support functions to include contract management, ordering of supplies, supply inventory, and processing invoices for payment.
Although the work is performed primarily in an office setting, the incumbent will be subject to normal laboratory exposures to potentially biohazardous substances and chemical hazards. Familiarity with basic laboratory safety and hazard communication requirements for inventory labeling and storage of these materials is required.

Duties
As a Supply Technician, you will perform inventory and identify Section materiel requirements. Prepare and keep files of all purchase requests and receive reports for the Section(s) to which assigned. Function as a card holder for IMPAC or other similar card used for the procurement of reagents, materials or services. Help identify requirements for reagents, supplies, services, and maintenance contracts supporting the Section(s) to which assigned. Enter purchase requests in PRWeb, and compile contracts, receiving reports and pertinent information for Capital Equipment Expense Program (CEEP) and Medical Care Support Equipment (MEDCASE). Assist the Section(s) Hand Receipt Holder in maintaining property account records documentation of issue, turn-in, and other transaction documents.
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing duties which includes: placing order requests; tracking supplies from point of order through delivery using automated purchase requisition systems; performing inventory of supplies to identify requirements; and processing invoices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
