About the Agency

The selectee for this position will serve as a Security Specialist at the GG-0080-09 grade level performing basic tasks regarding security functions and tasks involving the implementation or execution of security programs with the objective of detecting and preventing security problems which might endanger the activity or service, its sensitive operations, or its classified information.

This position is located in San Diego, CA.

Duties

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

• Implement and oversee the Physical Security plans and programs (e.g. intrusion detection systems, access control systems, closed circuit TV [CCTV]) for consistency with security policies and procedures.
• Track and administer sensitive compartmented information (SCI) clearances for all in-processing personnel.
• Monitor a closed circuit television (CCTV) security system to identify potential hazards and risks to personnel and assets.
• Review Physical Security assessments to identify security threats.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume is the key means we have for evaluating your skills, knowledge, and abilities as they relate to this position. Therefore, we encourage you to be clear and specific when describing your experience.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS/GG-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following duties:

1) Identifying security gaps, specifying requirements to fills gaps, and evaluating data through security reviews and inspections.
2) Assisting in the security technology fields of intrusion detection systems, and access control systems.
3) Utilizing sound masking systems and external and internal closed circuit television (CCTV).
4) Administering Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) non-disclosure agreements prior to indoctrination.

OR

You have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree.

OR

You have successfully completed two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree.

OR

You have obtained an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled.

Selectee must complete a Special Background investigation and receive a favorable adjudication by a determining authority. A Top Secret security clearance is a requirement of this position and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to obtain and maintain this required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a position offer or removal. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Drug test results will be provided to the employing activity/command.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601. This position is in the excepted service. Non-DCIPS applicants selected for a DCIPS position must acknowledge in writing, prior to actual appointment to the DCIPS position, that the position for which he or she has been selected is in the excepted service and covered by DCIPS. Federal employees currently serving in the competitive service must also acknowledge that they will voluntarily leave the competitive service by accepting an offer of employment for a DCIPS position. This acknowledgement is necessary as movement between the excepted service and competitive service may be limited if the employee does not possess competitive status.

Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) requires that all new employees successfully complete a two-year trial period if not previously completed in a prior DCIPS appointment.
