Peace Management Initiative - Western (PMI) invites applications for the following position:
  • Psychologist     
The Psychologist will provide the Peace Management Initiative - Western with the capacity to offer psychological support and interventions for communities traumatized by violence in the parishes of St. James, Westmoreland and Hanover. The incumbent will serve as a component of the Peace Management Initiative's crisis response team to outbreaks of violence and will assist with prevention/reduction and peace building initiatives as contracted to deliver by the Ministry of National Security and other agencies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Evaluate and make recommendations for clients
  2. Generate detailed reports
  3. Development and delivery of a psychological support
  4. Initiate the development of tools and techniques for the effective delivery of services
  5. Crisis response treatment/therapy plan activated
  6. Liaise with and engage stakeholders on matters relating to community development
  7. Assist victims, their families and community to cope with the trauma caused by violence and the constant exposure to conflicts in their communities
  8. Creation and implementation of therapy plan
Qualifications and Experience:
  1. Master degree in Psychology
  2. Two to three (2 - 3) years related work experience
  3. Knowledge of psychological assessment

Core Competencies
  1. Competence in working with varying populations
  2. Excellent communication skills
  3. Knowledge and use of computer programmes
  4. Having ability to work as a team member

  • Accounting Officer
The Officer will prepare monthly and annual financial statements for submission to the PMI board. 

Key duties and responsibilities:
  1. The Officer will prepare cheques for PMI bank signatories to sign and undertake all banking activities
  2. The Officer will carry out bank reconciliation procedures
  3. The Officer will also make sure that all financial transactions are done in accordance with government guidelines and regulations
  4. He/She will work alongside other staff members in preparing proposals and budgets for specific PMI programmes and activities
  5. The Officer will also manage the financial records of the PMI and prepare them for auditing
  6. The Officer will also make purchases on behalf of the Peace Management Initiative 
  7. The Officer will also be responsible for assisting other staff members in planning, organizing and implementing programmes as may be required outside regular office hours
Qualifications and experience:
  1. Diploma in Accounting from a recognized institution
  2. Four (4) CXC or GCE passes including Accounts, Mathematics and English Language
  3. Sound knowledge of Accounting standards and procedures
  4. Critical problem solving skills
  5. Attention to detail and accuracy
  6. Tolerance in working in a stressful environment
Core competencies:
  1. Preparation of all cheques for disbursement
  2. Runs cash book history to ensure that all receipts and lodgements for the month have been posted to the relevant accounts
  3. Accurate financial statements printed within established timeframe
  4. Files and maintains journal vouchers, cancelled, written back and voided cheques
  5. Prints and checks all relevant accounting statements for accuracy and completeness 
  6. Knowledge and use of computer programmes (Microsoft Office)
