Duties
The Pathways Internship Program allows students to join VA in career positions that emphasize long-term training and development.
As a Student Trainee (Administrative and Office Support), you will perform the following types of duties for the office to which you are assigned: Provide general clerical and administrative support for an office within the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Use office automation equipment and a variety of software to produce various documents in draft or final form.
- Software may include database spreadsheets, charts, or graphs and enters, revises, sorts, calculates and retrieve data.
- Review and sort incoming mail and distributes to the appropriate staff and/or office.
- Answer telephones, receives visitors, and refers callers and visitors to appropriate staff.
- Maintain the office filing systems and updates office files.
- Assist staff members on projects.
- Perform other clerical or administrative duties including photocopying, operating fax machines.
Work Schedule: Flexible work schedule between the hours of 8:00am and 5:30pm.

Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
