The Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) provides a variety of benefits and services to service members, veterans, and their families. VBA has been undergoing a major transformation that is people-centric, results-oriented, and a forward-looking integration of solutions that will ensure total lifelong engagement with service members, veterans, and their families.

Duties

As a Program Support Assistantfor the Veteran Benefits Administration you will:
  • Act as a liaison between the Division Chief or first line supervisor and other staff members.
  • Provide guidance or assistance to others on various matters for compliance.
  • Ensure incoming public inquiries and staff mail is properly opened, logged, read, date stamped, and sorted by established categories.
  • Review and research returned mail to determine the reason for its return.
  • Set up and operate single and multi-function equipment typical of a mail, duplicating, and reproduction functions.
  • Reproduce and distribute regulations, circulars, forms, and other correspondence.
  • Input data for shipments into a computer that provides shipping labels, tracking, and correct costs.
  • Collect and report monthly or periodic mailroom count data.
  • Apply customer service skills in responding to vendors, customers, or clients, other offices and management within the organization.
  • Greet and assist in-office visitors daily.
  • Exchange information with personnel from within the organization, from other offices, and from public and private agencies.
Work Schedule: Regular office hours; Alternate work schedules are available

Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
