About the Agency

This position is located in the 6.2.1 production Trades Division Competency, at Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW) San Diego. The selectee will be assigned as a Metal Processing Mechanic supporting an Integrated Product Team (IPT) product line within the FRCSW organization.

Duties

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

*Clean, prepare, coat, and electroplate components.

*Cleans metal and non-metal surfaces through the use of sandblasting equipment.

*Perform shot peening operations on various aircraft parts.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Operating, cleaning, sandblasting, and/or shot peening equipment, in order to clean and prepare aircraft parts and equipment; examine, inspect and paint parts and assemblies; work from blueprints, sketches or technical manuals.

Requirements:

All qualifications requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.

*Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

*Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Drug test results will be provided to the employing activity/command.

*Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

*Work requires lifting and moving heavy items.

*Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

*Incumbents are subject to occasional assignment to Field Service in order to support Navy/Marine Depot requirements in the continental United States, on board ship, or overseas. Required to work pre-and-post shift overtime, Saturday and Sunday or both and on different shift as determined by workload and management necessities based on schedule and fleet requirements.
