If selected for this position, you will serve as an Insect Production Worker with responsibilities that include performing repetitive tasks to aid the mission of the Plant Protection and Quarantine’s (PPQ’s) of protecting the agricultural interests of the U.S.

Duties
The duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Perform steps in the processing of artificial diet medium
- Infest insect food and eggs into larval rearing containers
- Wash and sterilize insect food holding containers
- Perform multiple, consecutive tasks associated with rearing insects for mass production
- Package irradiated adults in sealed Styrofoam boxes containing frozen ice packs for shipment
- Assemble egg-laying cages
- Collect egg-laying pads daily, requiring removal and replacement of egg pads, pad weights and feeding pads on each egg layer cage
- Place egg pads on spindle apparatus for further treatment
- Burn and dispose of terminated rearing boxes, tubs, egg layers, and other trash
- Wash and clear rearing racks, tub baskets, and air conditioner filters
- Help maintain clean sanitary conditions in all work areas and restroom facilities of the rearing laboratory, which includes sweeping, mopping and scrubbing floors, walls, work surfaces, toilet and shower facilities
