The incumbent serves as an Enforcement Officer within one of two Enforcement Divisions of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). OFAC enforces, implements and administers the Nation's economic and trade sanctions based on U.S. foreign policy and national security goals.

It is anticipated that there will be significant interest in the announcement. As a result, the announcement will close at 11:59 p.m. ET on the date of receipt of the 200th application or at 11:59 p.m. ET on DATE OF CLOSURE; whichever occurs first. Duties

As an Enforcement Officer, you will:
- Conduct a wide variety of investigations of possible violations of the economic sanctions programs administered by OFAC.
- Compile and analyze information collected during course of investigations and make oral and written recommendations with respect to proper disposition of cases.
- Coordinate with other Divisions within OFAC, including licensing, compliance, counter-narcotics and trans-national threats, and policy, to ensure that related matters are handled in coordinated and holistic manner.
- Represent OFAC and the Office of Enforcement, or otherwise participate in meetings with potential violators, target or other companies, and industry representatives.
- Speak at public events concerning OFAC's enforcement program.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience:

For the GS-13 grade level you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience and a working knowledge in ALL of the following:

- Demonstrated work experience in the area of US economic sanctions administered by OFAC;
- Independently conducting, coordinating, or overseeing extensive and complex investigations pertaining to the enforcement of or compliance with US laws and regulations specifically related to economic sanctions; AND
- Preparing written and verbal analytical products to program managers on the results of document findings, research, and analyzed data.

For the GS-12 grade level you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience and a working knowledge in ALL of the following:

- Participating in complex investigations pertaining to the enforcement of or compliance with US laws and regulations related to economic sanctions or export controls; AND
- Preparing written reports to program managers on the results of document findings, research, and analyzed data.

For the GS-11 grade level you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience in one or more of the following disciplines or a closely related field:

- International affairs, foreign policy, national security, economics, export controls, or international trade or finance; OR
- Experience in conducting internal or external audits, regulatory and/or legal compliance reviews, or law enforcement investigations of U.S. and/or foreign companies engaged in international trade, including the exportation of goods, services, or technology; OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR
LL.M., if related.

For the GS-9 grade level you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience in one or more of the following disciplines or a closely related field:

- International affairs, foreign policy, national security, economics, political science, banking, or international trade or finance; OR
Education: master's or equivalent graduate degree, if related; OR
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, if related; OR
an LL.B. or J.D., if related to the position. OR

You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-11, you must have been at the GS-9 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-9, you must have been at the GS-7 level for 52 weeks.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.
