Duties
As the Transporation Assistant (Personal Property Counselor) in this position, you will:
Determine and advise entitlements or procedures related to temporary storage of goods.
Define items shipped as baggage or household goods, various restrictions, weight limits, procedures for shipment of pets, and automobiles.
Counsel employees of their entitlements for shipment and storage of personal property and privately owned vehicles, including specialized items, to domestic and overseas locations.
Consult with member(s) on personal needs in light of entitlements based on rank, years of service, and type and amount of property to be moved.
Some travel may be required to assist other Personal Property Offices in support of JPPSO-Northeast.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Have at least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 level (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience must include activities such as: (1) Counseling employees of their entitlements for shipment and storage of personal property and privately owned vehicles, including specialized items, to domestic and overseas locations. (2) Consulting with personnel and their dependents in groups or individually regarding submitting an application for the shipment and storage of household goods, personal baggage, and mobile homes. (3) Defining items shipped as baggage or household goods, various restrictions, weight limits, procedures for shipment of pets, and automobiles. (4) Preparing and processing applications for transportation or storage of personal property and privately owned vehicles.

Part-Time or Unpaid Experience: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid work on the same basis as for paid experience. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. To receive credit for such experience you must indicate clearly the nature of the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the number of hours per week spent in such employment.
Other Significant Facts:
May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
Maybe required to work an uncommon tour of duty during peak permanent change of duty months.
Typing and computer operations is performed, however a qualified typist is not required.
