About the Position:
The US Military Entrance Processing Command (USMEPCOM) is comprised of two geographical sectors and staffed with personnel from all military services. The mission of USMEPCOM and the Nashville Military Processing Station (MEPS) is to process individuals for enlistment or induction into the armed services, based on DOD-approved peacetime and mobilization standards. The Nashville MEPS is one of a network of 65 MEPS located nationwide and in Puerto Rico.  Thank you for your interest becoming an Intermittent Test Administrator (ITA) for the Nashville MEPS. Part of our commitment is to ensure that applicants have a clear understanding of what this position entails in order for applicants to determine if it is the right fit before applying.  This position is not full-time; it is intermittent.  In an intermittent position, the work schedule will be flexible and the employee will be called in to duty as needed. There is no set work schedule for this position.  This position does not provide guaranteed work hours each week, and work will be assigned on an intermittent "as needed basis".  This position will be filled on a permanent basis; however, it will NOT lead to a full-time position.  This position is listed at an hourly salary.   Pay is dependent upon the actual hours worked by ITAs. There will be frequent travel: ITAs are based out of a major city listed in this announcement; however, the incumbent will be expected to drive to various test sites in the area assigned (within 100 mile radius from residence) to perform his/her duties. A driver's license and vehicle are required at all times to retain this position. Benefits are limited: Intermittent employees are eligible for participation in the Federal Employee Retirement Plan (FERS) as well as the Thrift Savings Plan. They are NOT eligible to enroll in health, dental, vision or life insurance plans with this position, nor paid vacation or sick days. In certain situations, based on law, variations to benefits entitlements apply to current Federal employees allowing them to carry over health, dental, vision or life insurance plans.

Duties


As an Intermittent Test Administrator, you will administer the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Enlistment Test to determine individual qualifications for enlistment into military service. You will administer written examination sessions ranging in size from 1 to 40 persons for Enlistment testing and 1 to 250 persons for student testing.  Ensure individuals can access and execute aptitude testing on computers for Internet testing. Following common test administrative practices and guidelines, you will instruct applicants on testing procedures. You will distribute, collect, and sort all test materials, to include:
  • Answer sheets
  • Test takerForms
  • Enlistment test booklets
  • Student test booklets
  • Personal data assistants (PDAs)
You will conduct quality control checks to ensure that all forms are properly completed and make corrections as needed. You will prepare applicant packages and mail documents to appropriate offices for action. You will be responsible for the overall safety and security of the materials, personnel, and facilities in which the tests are being administered. This will entail proper safeguarding, storage, and use of materials in accordance with established regulations.
