About the Position:Fort Bragg is known as the "Home of the Airborne and Special Operations Forces." It is a culturally diverse area with both rural and city populations and is co-located at Fayetteville, NC. It is centrally located just hours away from the beautiful beaches of North Carolina and the scenic Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains. Fayetteville Regional Airport is located 12 miles outside of Fort Bragg's gates and Raleigh-Durham International Airport is 70 miles away. There are numerous universities in close proximity to Fort Bragg, to include: Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville Technical Community College, Methodist University, and Troy State University.

Duties

• Perform security guard access control in accordance with appropriate Regulations.
• Perform various security duties such as fixed post access control, and foot or vehicle patrol requiring application of different and unrelated methods, practices, techniques or criteria.
• Use specialized operating requirements, equipment, and procedures in order to safeguard military and civilian employees, family members, contractors and the general public.
• Prepare and format a wide variety of special reports and other correspondence.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience in working with a Federal organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life; Such experience must have provided knowledge of protective systems and techniques. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

• Knowledge of Security Guard Duties
• Knowledge of Traffic Control
• Skill in Operations Weapons and Related Equipment
• Skill in Written and Oral Communication

• Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
• You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
• Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
• Direct Deposit of Pay is Required.

• Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a T3 level ( Secret) security clearance.
• IAW AR 190-56, requirements of Individual Reliability Program apply.
• IAW AR 600-85, a DA Form 5019R Condition of Employment must be assigned for mandatory drug testing. Drug testing designated position. Individual agrees to submit to a urinalysis on a recurring basis, in accordance with AR 600-85.
• Shift work is required, or a change in work shift may be necessary. Hours of work encompass fluctuating tours of duty to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Overtime may be required as directed and is subject to recall for periods of emergency overtime.
• Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
• Incumbent must undergo and pass annual medical exams of physical, emotional and mental stability.
• Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training.
• Incumbent must successfully complete CPR certification and First Aid training.
• Incumbent may be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton.
• This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 which makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence to ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms or ammunition. Civilian personnel of the Department of the Defense are not exempt from this provision. This includes Protection from Abuse Orders.
