Vacancy Information: This position is located in DFAS - DIR/SITE SUPPORT OFFICE - ROME, NY.

Duties

• Performs alarm system operations at the site to include; Intrusion detection equipment (IDE), Closed circuit television monitors (CCTV) and access control devices.
• Assists site Security Specialist with the day-to-day physical security of the Rome facility, employees and the classified storage facility.
• Monitors and controls proposed visitor entry/access points to DFAS-RO space and the associated access control devices.
• Assists in the implementation and enforcement of the DoD Force Protection program for the facility and performs Random Anti-terrorism Measures daily.
• Issues the DoD Common Access Card (CAC) to all assigned DoD civilian personnel.

Qualifications

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-05) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized Experience is defined as: experience applying security-related rules, procedures, or operations to perform security support functions for a facility or organization.
Examples of Specialized Experience; preparing and providing access control badges for a facility, its visitors and employees; or providing assistance and access for emergency responders
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months of graduate education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement when education is directly related to the position being filled. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
Background or Security Investigation: This is a non-critical sensitive position with Secret access clearance. Employment in this position requires a background investigation which may delay your starting date. If you are selected and cannot obtain a favorable security determination within a reasonable period of time due to disclosed or undisclosed background issues, the employment offer may be withdrawn. Individuals selected for this position are required to obtain and maintain a favorable security determination to occupy a sensitive position within the agency as a condition of employment.
