Duties
The incumbent of this position works under the general supervision of the canteen chief or designee. Incumbent actively assists customers in the selection of merchandise in a sales area where specialist merchandise knowledge is not required. Presents an image of professionalism, self-confidence, helpfulness and interest in the customer.
Makes recommendation to management on ways to better meet customer needs. Sells merchandise directly to customers, requiring the operation of a cash register, and the maintenance of a change fund. Performs other related duties such as merchandise control. merchandise replacement, display, housekeeping and record keeping.
Work Schedule: 40 hours per pay period with weekend availability

Qualifications
Qualifying Experience
General Experience: four months general work experience preferable in a retail environment.
Basic knowledge of computers.
Ability to read, interpret and follow instructions, and perform simple calculations in addition and subtraction.
General work experience in a customer service environment that included interfacing with customers.
Positive attitude for interacting with customers. EDUCATION: High School diploma General Equivalency Diploma (GED) EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume or OF-612. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lift or move objects weighing over 40 pounds with assistance.
