About the Agency

Selectee manufactures components from all types of rubber, plastic and many other materials, lays out and manufactures steel rule dies, manufactures gaskets and seals, caulks with all types of sealing compounds. This position is with the Fleet Readiness Center Southwest.

Duties

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

- Manufacture various rubber products and parts.

- Manufacture gaskets, extrusions, and seals of different rubber compositions.

- Compound and process ingredients to manufacture bulk rubber.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to work under close supervision performing tasks such as, complying with oral and written instructions; operating a rubber mixing machine; manufacturing molding, curing, and extruding dies; examining the condition of rubber products; coating objects with rubber; making repairs to rubber products by patching, cementing and coating; operating skill saws, jig saws, drill presses.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

-Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

-Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Drug test results will be provided to the employing activity/command.

-Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

-Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

-This recruitment may be used to staff 2nd shift requirements.

-Selectees are subject to occasional assignment to Field Service in order to support Navy/Marine Depot requirements in the continental United States, on board ship,or overseas. Required to work pre-and-post shift overtime, Saturday and Sunday or both and on different shift as determined by workload and management necessities based on schedule and fleet requirements.
