Quality Assurance Officer (Kingston, Jamaica)

Food manufacturing and distribution company invites applications for a Quality Assurance Officer.

We are seeking to recruit a Quality Assurance Officer who will implement and ensure the effective maintenance and audit of required procedures, documentation and practices of the Food Safety Quality Standard, HACCP, Good Manufacturing Practices and FDA Requirements along with knowledge of Compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies, both locally and internationally.

Key Responsibilities:

• Directing quality control programmes to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards using industry best practices
• Supervising a Quality Control Department consisting of approximately eight staff
• Maintenance of quality system (ISO 9000 and HACCP) to ensure compliance with the industry best practices
• Formulation and direction of policies to provide a safe and healthy atmosphere within the workplace and to comply with all statutory environmental and safety regulations
• Coordinating pest control activities, conducting sanitation audits
• Supervise all procedures to guarantee quality products

Required skills:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Competent in computer application systems
• Flexible to work extensive hours and on week-ends

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree in Food Technology, Chemistry or equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution
• At least three (3) years experience in a supervisory capacity
