Summary

About the Agency

The selectee for this position will serve as an Ordnance Equipment Mechanic Helper in the Missiles Department of NMC CWD DET SEAL BEACH.

**If you are a current federal employee and you are selected for this position, you will be converted to a time limited appointment and WILL NOT have return rights to your previous position.

** Temporary actions taken under this announcement may be extended without further competition at the recommendation of management. Term appointments may be extended up to 4 years at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations

Duties

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

• Providing senior mechanics with applicable tools and material
• Performing various mechanical and manual tasks in the assembly, breakdown, overhual and reconditioning of missiles
• Assisting in the loading and unloading of explosive and inert items

Travel Required

• Occasional Travel
• You may be expected to travel for this position.

• Yes
• Relocation incentives as described in 5 USC 5753 may be authorized in accordance with applicable command policy and available command funding.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Drug test results will be provided to the employing activity/command.

Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Work requires frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, working in cramped positions, and climbing.

Work requires lifting and moving heavy items.

The incumbent must qualify and obtain an explosive forklift license within six months of entrance on duty.

Requires rotating shift work.
