About the Position:This is a Military Technician position with the US Army Reserves. Becoming a Military Technician allows you to experience the best of two worlds by taking advantage of the opportunity to become a Citizen Soldier in the US Army Reserve Military Technician program. This enables you to receive full civil service benefits and military reserve benefits. Military Technicians are a vital link between the US Army Reserves and civil service and are one of the most important keys to combat readiness.
This position is located at: 80th Training Command (The Army School System), 3rd Brigade, 100th Division, Fort Totten, NY.
Description of the Working Environment: work is performed in an office setting.

Qualifications

Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Work that involves providing telephonic and face-to-face assistance to customers on computer software/hardware/network problems; Training employees on computer systems to minimize operational disruptions; Assist managing accountability for information technology related equipment in an organization; Troubleshooting software/hardware/network communication issues and provide corrective action. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service, GS-07.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

• Knowledge of IT Principles, Practices, and Policies
• Ability to Analyze

• Skill in Customer Support
• Ability to Maintain Computer Systems

Qualifying based on education below: Education may be substituted for specialized experience with a Master's (or equivalent graduate degree), 2 years (36 semester hours) of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university. The degree must be in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, technology management, or in a field that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks. (Note: you must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute for experience. For additional information, please go to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and U.S. Department of Education websites.
Foreign education must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency in order to be considered for this position. You must include this information with your application package.
