This is a Permanent, Full-time position.
Duties
As an Administrative Support Assistant in the Visitor & Resource Protection Division of Bryce Canyon National Park some of your duties will include
- Budget – assisting in development, tracking (monitoring and reporting), and execution of budget for the Visitor & Resource Protection Division.
- Administration – clerical support, travel preparation, record management.
- Human Resources – serving as timekeeper for the division, tracking appointment hours for seasonal and term employees, initiating personnel actions according to regulations.
Physical Demands: Most work is of sedentary office oriented nature. Incumbent is occasionally required to drive a GSA vehicle to local destinations to accomplish work assignments. Infrequent travel to trainings and meetings may be required.
Work Environment: The incumbent spends most working time in an office environment in Bryce Canyon National Park visitor center administrative offices. But may make brief local communities trips, and/ or trips to maintenance yard, and housing area in the course of the completing assignments.Area Information/Housing Information: Bryce Canyon National Park is located in south central Utah in the heart of Garfield County – a 4,000 square mile region with a population of 4,500 people. At an elevation of 6,000-9,000 feet, Bryce Canyon's winters are long and cold, but offer exquisite beauty and serenity. Snowfall amounts vary from 30-200 inches. Daytime temperatures average 40 F, with nighttime temperatures dropping into the single digits. Bryce Canyon offers outstanding winter and summer recreational activities. Summer living conditions are near ideal with warm sunny days and cool nights. Small grocery stores, restaurant, service stations, a church and K-12 school are located in Tropic (15 miles) with bus service provided. The nearest medical facilities are in Panguitch (28 miles). More extensive services and amenities can be found in Cedar City (80 miles).
Housing may be available through a bid-system.
