This position is located in Lassen Volcanic National Park , in the Division of Interpretation. The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support.

Duties


Area Information: Lassen Volcanic National Park is a largely undiscovered gem of the National Park Service. Situated where the Cascade and Sierra Nevada Ranges meet, it contains a wonderful diversity of mixed conifer forests, lakes, streams, alpine fell-fields, and meadows resplendent in summer wildflowers and butterflies. Various types of volcanoes dominate the landscape, as well as active hydrothermal features like steam vents and mud pots. Recreational opportunities abound, with cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter, and hiking, camping, backpacking, fly-fishing, and kayaking in the summer. Boating is available on nearby Lake Almanor or the Sacramento River. The largest city near Lassen Volcanic National Park is Redding, California which offers a large array of services
 
Major Duties: This is a shared permanent position in the Divisions of Interpretation/Education and Resources
Management at Lassen Volcanic National Park and is supervised by the Chief of
Interpretation/Education. The incumbent serves as an Administrative Assistant in support of the
division chiefs and staffs. The employee performs a wide variety of administrative, budget,
computer, statistical, and clerical duties. Duties include: a) Independently performing
administrative activities and office duties including receiving visitors and answering telephone
calls, provides information to division personnel relating to work schedules, assists with time and
attendance, pay, overtime, leave, personnel requisitions, finance, travel, supplies, equipment and
various other matters; b) prepares the divisions property inventory, and maintains various files;
c) programming, budgeting and monitoring all fiscal aspects of the divisions including managing
and tracking spending on a variety of accounts, reviewing processed expenditures, recording
balances, and correcting discrepancies. Initiating purchases and prepares status of funds reports
and is responsible for fiscal year closing for the divisions; and d) serves as the park Volunteer In
Parks (VIP) Program Coordinator which includes: volunteer program oversight, preparation of
volunteer agreements/position descriptions, recruitment efforts, tracking of volunteer hours,
submission of volunteer projects, managing volunteer budget and uniforms, recognition program
and coordination of park volunteer appreciation event.
