The purpose of this position is to serve as Student Trainee (Compliance Support) in the Sanctions Compliance & Evaluation (SC&E) Division in the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). OFAC administers economic and trade sanctions, which are based on US foreign policy and national security goals against targeted foreign countries and regimes, terrorists, international narcotics traffickers, those engaged in activities related to the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and other threats to the national security, foreign policy or economy of the United States.
The Pathways Internship Program combines a temporary opportunity to earn a competitive salary while learning about federal service. Interns gain valuable, resume- building work experience and opportunities to foster networking relationships. Duties
As a Student Trainee Compliance Support Intern, your major duties may include:
- Assisting with scanning and filing hard copies of reports submitted to OFAC as well as other miscellaneous office support and administrative tasks as needed.
- Responding to inquiries submitted to OFACs Compliance call center by providing guidance regarding the appropriate treatment of a real-time transaction or general information on OFAC sanctions programs.
- Reviewing incoming blocking and reject reports for completeness and accuracy and liaising with the appropriate financial institutions as necessary regarding issues as they arise.
- Inputting incoming reports into OFACs Compliance database.
- Assisting with scanning and filing hard copies of reports submitted to OFAC as well as other miscellaneous office support and administrative tasks as needed.
