The Human Relations &/Administrative Officer
The responsibilities will include:
-
Coordinate and administrate new employees' orientation
-
Creation and maintenance of employee files
-
Detailed and accurate filing and record-keeping e.g. Filing and the updating of employee personal files
-
Prepare and distributes including, but not limited to job letters and other company correspondence
-
Oversee the administration of payroll and maintaining employee records ensuring that absent days, sick days and vacation days are accounted for where applicable each month
-
Provide administrative information to the Accounts department in preparing payroll verification and changes for salary payments and deductions
-
Work with other departments (internal and external) in the coordination and delivery of Human Resource Service
-
Assist in the drafting of job advertisements for vacant positions, screening applications, shortlisting and interviewing and selecting candidates
-
Support the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems
-
Provide counseling on policies and procedures
-
Develop training and development programs
-
Assist in performance and management processes
-
Support the management of disciplinary and grievance issues
-
Records and relates employment related issues to the CEO
-
Keep up to date with Human Resource Management techniques and standards by reading relevant journals, and attending relevant courses
-
Establish standards and procedures regarding office management and internal control
-
Develop and implement new administrative systems, such as records management to include filing systems and record retention
-
Perform any other task at the request of the CEO.
Requirements:
-
Bachelor of Science degree in relevant discipline
-
Four (4) years in similar position
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
-
Understanding of HR Operations and Human Resource Management Principles
-
Strong organizational and administrative skills
-
Significant experience in building and motivating employees
-
Creative thinker and Solutions oriented
-
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with proven expertise in documenting and delivering presentations
-
Keen attention to detail with demonstrated ability to do things right the first time
-
Strong analytical and problem solving skills and sound judgement
-
Ability to work with strict time frames and deadlines, and in a fast-paced environment
-
Excellent human relations; interpersonal skills
-
Strong skills in mediation, negotiating, conflict management and counseling
-
Commitment to continuous learning in order to stay current with Human Resources developments and best practices and to quickly collaborate with the team and integrate into Human Resources processes, practices and procedures
-
HR data metrics – experience in creating KPIs and analyzing data
-
Excellent knowledge of Jamaican Labour Laws
