About the Agency

This position is located in Lake Mead National Recreation Area, in the Business Center, Information Technology Office. Please visit find a park for additional park information.

Full-Time TERM position. Appointment to this position will not convey permanent status in the Federal service and will be for a period not to exceed thirteen months, with possible extensions up to a total of four years without further competition.

Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. All travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the sole responsibility of the selected employee.

Duties

Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level. Provides information technology assistance to PC users at the unit, including users with special requirement items. Installs and tests PCs and their associated peripheral devices. Troubleshoots reported problems and resolves, or refers to IT Specialist.
Provides support for standard agency software programs. Installs and tests package software and other agency approved software. Provides instruction in the use of existing hardware or upon installation; Provides instruction and training to PC users in the use of software or basic personal computer concepts. Provides assistance in preparing hardware for excess property. Assist users in making connections to mainframe computers at remote sites in order to use department/agency centralized programs.

Qualifications

All qualification requirements (including any applicable selective factors) must be met by the closing date of the announcement in order to be considered.

To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications:

EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: limited phases of computer technology functions in support of personal computers (PC's), installs and tests PC's and associated peripheral devices in accordance with manuals and instructions, and troubleshoots commonly occurring problems and assists users in resolving them . You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least four (4) full years of education above high school from an accredited college or university. You must include transcripts.
-OR-
Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 36. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts

NOTE: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Credit will be given for all qualifying experience regardless of whether compensation was received and whether the experience was gained as a part-time or full-time occupation. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. To receive credit for such experience, your resume must indicate clearly:

• The nature of your duties and responsibilities in each position; and
• Complete dates of employment period (e.g. MM/YY to MM/YY, MM/YY to Present, etc.); and
• The number of hours per week spent in such employment for each position.

You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies".


To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.

You are required to obtain (through applicable government training) and use a government-issued credit card.

You are required to complete a one-year probationary period beginning on the effective date of this appointment.
