The FMWRC mission is to create and maintain "FIRST CHOICE" MWR products and services for America's Army, essential to a ready, self-reliant force.

This job announcement will be used to fill positions for Round Pond Outdoor recreation swim area and other recreation areas as assigned.

Located in the scenic Hudson River Valley, only 50 miles from New York City, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point is a four-year academic institution, a nationally-renowned historic site, and the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point's 3,000 civilian employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theatre, the Hudson Valley's premier performing arts center, and recreational facilities such as an 18-hole Golf Course and Ski Slope.

The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the hiring freeze. Although we are moving forward with the consideration of candidates, we will not make a selection for this vacancy announcement unless and until the position is no longer subject to the hiring freeze.

Duties

• Responsible for life guarding guests at assigned aquatic facility
• Assists in maintaining pool, and area clean and free from any hazards.
• Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules, and follows facility Standard Operating Procedures for disciplinary actions.
• Maintains daily logs, reports and records as required.
• Provides maximum pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies; rescues pool patrons and administers first aid as required

Qualifications

• Possesses and maintains the following certifications: Life guarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS); American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED).

The above certifications may be uploaded at time of application. If in the process of attaining certifications, copies must be received by CPAC prior to appointment.

Conditions of Employment:
1. If selected, a completed and signed copy of our job application form (DA Form 3433) is required prior to entrance on duty. (Click here to view form).
2. Medical examination is required.
3. Must be able to work an irregular schedule which includes: nights, weekends, and holidays.
4. All required certifications must be kept current.
5. Continued exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperatures and humidity.
6. Required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
7. Fifteen (15) year old lifeguards must comply with the restriction of the DOL Child Labor Laws.
8. Lifeguards must have good vision (corrected vision if necessary) while on duty to effectively recognize all emergencies, incidents and rule breaking.
9. In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
10. May be assigned to irregular duties ow when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
