These positions are temporary and have a Not-to-Exceed date. However, an extension of the appointment may be possible without further competition. The appointment may also end early due to lack of work or funds.
These positions arelocated on a Forest Service unit. The incumbent performs a variety of duties in support of resource programs.
These positions are located in Region 2 on the Nebraska National Forest in Halsey, NE.

The USDA Forest Service has legislative authority to recruit and fill Permanent (Career/Career- Conditional), Temporary, and Term Appointments under the USDA Demonstration Project. Under this authority, any U.S. citizen may apply.
Duties
Incumbent performs a variety of duties in different work settings. Tasks involve moderately heavy physical effort and the use of common manual hand tools and equipment (e.g., hatchets, clippers, shovel, crow bar, screw drivers, hand saw, hand truck, dolly) and simple power equipment (e.g., lawnmowers, wet vacuums, steam cleaners, low-pressure sprayers, hand buffers) and typically include:
1) Loading, unloading, and moving heavy, bulky objects, such as furniture and equipment, by hand, hand truck, or dolly; collecting and emptying garbage cans.
2) Opening crates and boxes using crowbars and cutting packing strips with shears. Packs items in boxes or bags for shipment.
3) Digging ditches where grading and sloping is not required; filling holes with dirt; leveling bumps and low places using shovel, hand tamper, and rake.
4) Watering grounds, laying sod, mowing grass with walking-type power lawnmower; trim small trees and bushes using handsaw or shears.
5) Shoveling snow.
6) Washing and waxing vehicles using hand buffer.
7) Performing simple maintenance, assembly, and repairs on furniture and equipment.
