This recruitment will be used to fill a temporary position. This appointment will not exceed 1039 hours in a twelve month period, although it may be terminated sooner or extended depending on management needs.
This position is located at Canyon de Chelly National Monument in Chinle, Arizona which is in the northeastern part of the state.
Duties
The incumbent maintains Canyon de Chelly National Monument's Facility Management Software System (FMSS) database in order to support park, regional and department goals for reporting accurate and pertinent information in relation to park assets, maintenance and construction requirements, expenditures and accomplishments. Enters data from a variety of sources and updates program cost components and supporting documentation required for the facility management system. Reviews data for accuracy and coordinates findings and recommendations with division management regarding FMSS issues and use.
Retrieves data and prepares reports to management from FMSS, the Facility Condition Assessment System (FCAS) and the Cost Estimating Software System(CESS) for operational and fiscal purposes. Manipulates database information to complete park, regional and national reports. Reviews and utilizes data contained in other software programs to accomplish tracking and reporting duties.
May perform a variety of other administrative support duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is primarily sedentary.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is performed in an office environment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
AREA INFORMATION/HOUSING INFORMATION: Canyon de Chelly National Monument is located three miles east of Chinle, Arizona. Chinle has a population of 5,000 people and has gas stations, supermarkets, motels, churches, etc. Medical facilities are located 40 miles from the park. Elementary through high school and Dine College are located within commuting distance. The park's climate is semi-arid to mountainous; park headquarters is at an elevation of 5,500 feet.
The park is located on the Navajo Reservation which is comprised of over 16 million acres with a Navajo population of over 400,000 people. Many small communities dot the Navajo Reservation with limited services. Larger Navajo communities provide supermarkets, restaurants, gas stations and other services while border towns provide a full range of commercial business services such as shopping, recreational and entertainment opportunities.
