This recruitment will be used to fill a temporary position. This appointment will not exceed 1039 hours in a twelve month period, although it may be terminated sooner or extended depending on management needs.
This position is located at Canyon de Chelly National Monument in Chinle, Arizona which is in the northeastern part of the state.

Duties

The incumbent maintains Canyon de Chelly National Monument's Facility Management Software System (FMSS) database in order to support park, regional and department goals for reporting accurate and pertinent information in relation to park assets, maintenance and construction requirements, expenditures and accomplishments. Enters data from a variety of sources and updates program cost components and supporting documentation required for the facility management system. Reviews data for accuracy and coordinates findings and recommendations with division management regarding FMSS issues and use.
Retrieves data and prepares reports to management from FMSS, the Facility Condition Assessment System (FCAS) and the Cost Estimating Software System(CESS) for operational and fiscal purposes. Manipulates database information to complete park, regional and national reports. Reviews and utilizes data contained in other software programs to accomplish tracking and reporting duties.
May perform a variety of other administrative support duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is primarily sedentary.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is performed in an office environment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
AREA INFORMATION/HOUSING INFORMATION: Canyon de Chelly National Monument is located three miles east of Chinle, Arizona.  Chinle has a population of 5,000 people and has gas stations, supermarkets, motels, churches, etc. Medical facilities are located 40 miles from the park. Elementary through high school and Dine College are located within commuting distance. The park's climate is semi-arid to mountainous; park headquarters is at an elevation of 5,500 feet.
The park is located on the Navajo Reservation which is comprised of over 16 million acres with a Navajo population of over 400,000 people. Many small communities dot the Navajo Reservation with limited services. Larger Navajo communities provide supermarkets, restaurants, gas stations and other services while border towns provide a full range of commercial business services such as shopping, recreational and entertainment opportunities.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement, Friday, May 05, 2017. Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sectors.
QUALIFICATIONS: To be eligible for this position, you must possess the qualifying specialized experience and/or education as described in the occupational/assessment questionnaire and as outlined below.
GS-05
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the federal service OR four years of education above high school in any field OR a combination of specialized experience and education.
Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of specialized experience include, but are not limited to, the following: providing administrative support in tracking facilities operations and maintenance information including building maintenance, repair and restoration; managing databases and analysis of report data while supporting maintenance activities and preventive maintenance programs for a park, recreational area or similar operation.

Education: Successfully completed four years of education above high school in any field. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial or technical school.
Combination: A combination of specialized experience and education, as noted above, can qualify you for this position. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to six months of specialized experience.

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking or other equivalent documentation.  Applicants can verify accreditation HERE

Requirements1.National Park Service (NPS) uniformed position. Employee will be required to wear a uniform and comply with NPS uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided to defray the cost of the uniform.
2. You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties. Prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, you will be required to sign an affidavit certifying to your possession of a valid state issued driver's license that is current and has not been revoked, suspended, canceled, or otherwise disqualified in any way to prohibit your operation of a motor vehicle.
