Job Title: Systems Engineer
Location: Jamaica- Group Caribbean

Summary/Objective:

As the System Engineer you will be responsible to maintain and support the IT Operations of Digicel. This goal is achieved through various responsibilities shared by all the Engineers. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, such tasks as maintaining all voice systems, Windows Servers, LAN, WAN and Internet Network, Network Nodes, PC network connectivity, PC applications and printers.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Monitor and maintain connectivity to Digicel’s Internet Service Provider (ISP):
• • CSE constantly monitor the Internet Link for drops in bandwidth and other problems that may arise. 
• Maintenance of Windows Servers
• • RAID Configuration
  • Disk Space Monitoring and Administration
  • Server configuration and set-up
  • Hardware Installation
  • O/S updates
  • Preparation of server performance reports
  • Scripting
  • Installation/Management of Enterprise Antivirus solution
• LAN and WAN maintenance and monitoring
• • CSE’s test and replace network cables and patch user ports in the network backbone to provide connectivity to the network for users.
• Maintenance of Voice Equipment (i.e. PBX and ACD Systems) at Digicel Jamaica Locations
• • Maintenance of the Avaya CS1K (Nortel) voice solution
  • Configuration of line extensions and phone features, such as voicemail and overseas dialing
  • Maintenance for the IVR (Avaya Experience Portal) including minor changes
  • Maintenance of the quality monitoring solution
  • Support of outbound dialers (APC and POM)
  • Support Avaya Aura Contact Center
  • Email Server Administration
  • Maintenance of an Enterprise printing solution (HP/Capella)
  • Firewall Administration (Microsoft Forefront TMG)
  • Installation, configuration and maintenance of users’ PC hardware and softwareServer Room management
  • Maintenance of server room environment (cabling, Servers, Racks etc)
  • Recommend and facilitate the implementation of Server Back-ups and Recovery schemes
  • Maintain Windows Operating Systems of all Servers
  • Implement and maintain hardware and system software of all windows based servers
  • Prepare, maintain and test the technology disaster recovery plan

• Network Administration
• • Assist the IP department with LAN and WAN design
  • Maintain existing LAN and WAN and PBX
  • Monitor data/voice/power network performances
  • Continually improve Network Infrastructure with more efficient technology
  • Ensure LAN/WAN security (firewall)
  • Ensure all applications required are available to users in a complete and consistent manner once it is appropriately authorized
  • Manage user and customer access to FTP resources
  • Manages network operations to include: troubleshooting connectivity problems; adding/terminating users; assigning rights and access; resetting passwords; establishing e-mail addresses; assessing and reporting operational status; performing backups and restores

Academic qualifications and experience required for job: 

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant discipline 
• Diploma or professional qualification in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 5 years’ experience
