S.O.S. Children's Villages is looking for a Village Master - Kingston
The Village Master is responsible for the general maintainance of the S.O.S. Children's Village, in respect of the physical facility and public areas as well as the care of machinery at his disposal, always seeking to ensure a safe and healthy living environment and also to perform all other job related activities entrusted by the Village Director and/or the National Director.
Required Education and Experience
The Village Director leads the S.O.S. Children's Village. He/she co-ordinates all village activities and is responsible and accountable for the overall management and development of the village with a deinstitutionalized approach.
Required Qualifications
Required Knowledge and Skills
The Village Master is responsible for the general maintainance of the S.O.S. Children's Village, in respect of the physical facility and public areas as well as the care of machinery at his disposal, always seeking to ensure a safe and healthy living environment and also to perform all other job related activities entrusted by the Village Director and/or the National Director.
Required Education and Experience
- Maintainance/Repairs certification from HEART/NCTVET or recognized institution.
- Minimum of Three (3) years related working experience in maintenance (i.e. facility, ground/landscape.)
- Comprehensive/thorough knowledge of occupation hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned tasks.
- Knowledge in building construction and maintenance.
- Working knowledge of the standard methods, materials and equipment employed in general artisan functions (e.g., electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting and locksmith work, etc.).
- proficiency in computer applications.
- Preparation management and execution of monthly maintenance budget.
- Be able to supervise external suppliers and stakeholders to procure goods and services within organisation's recommended guidelines and procedures.
- Be able to supervise external contractors/service providers.
- Work in own initiative with little supervision.
- Analytical thinking and ability to solve problems.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Flexibility.
- Willingness to make long-term commitment.
- Possibility to reside on property.
- Valid gernal driver's license.

- Higher Education in related field (degree) or
- At least two (2) years of post-high school study in relevant field such as management, education, psychology or social work.
- Training and experience in Human Resources Development and/perfromance Management.
- At least five (5) years' life/work experience in a relevant field and in managing people (confirmed with achievements).
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of national child welfare system, Child Rights and Protection Act.
- Comprehension of child, youth and family development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
- Knowledge of strategic planning, budgeting and reporting.
- Monitoring and Evaluation methodologies.
- Working knowledge of sustainable development approaches.
- Conflict management.
- Presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong administrative skills.
- Strong leadership and team building skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Analytical thinking and ability to solve problems.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Flexibility.
- Willingness to make a long-term commitment.
- Valid general drive's license.
- Ability to understand and communicate in Spanish would be an asset.
The Caregiver provides general support to the family in the direct care and development of the children.
Required Education and Experience
- Educated to Secondary Level.
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience working with children.
- Certificate in Child Care.
- Experience in Home Management to include family budgeting.
- Ability to operate a computer to intermediate level.
- Knowledge of Child Rights and Protection Act.
- Comprehension of child, youth and family development.
- Knowledge of Positive Parenting techniques promoting child participation.
- Ability to work as part of a Team.
- Mental Alertness and Strong Motivation.
- Positive attribute and perseverance.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
- Ability to reside on the village with children in a family setting.
- Willingness to make a long-term commitment.
