Duties

Assists Technicians and performs minor routine repairs, maintenance and installations of police equipment and systems to a diverse fleet of vehicles.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill an indeterminate GL-MAN-05/SPS-05 vacancy in Newmarket, Ontario. A pool may be established from this selection process and may be used to fill the same or similar positions at the GL-MAN-05/SPS-05 group and level in Newmarket, Ontario on an indeterminate or term basis.

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member. Notification regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

Experience repairing or maintaining a motor vehicle in an accredited repair facility or school.

Ability to complete basic vehicle maintenance checks

Experience in installation of automotive accessories
Experience in installation of automotive electronic accessories
Experience using a computerized work order system
Experience in welding and metal fabrication techniques
Experience using computer spreadsheet software
Possession of a valid driver’s license equivalent to an Ontario Class G Driver’s License
(A driver’s abstract with no more than 2 minor violations in the last 12 months
*A copy of the driver’s abstract will be requested during the assessment phase and may be requested again upon successful completion of the security clearance process for the successful candidate.)
Willingness and ability to lift and carry objects approximately 40 lbs (18kg) on a regular basis
Willingness and ability to perform manual labour, such as shoveling snow or assisting with the installation of heavy equipment
Willingness and ability to work overtime
Willingness and ability to travel
