Local Area Network (LAN) Technician - Jamalco (Jamaica)

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and suitably qualified individual to fill the position of LOCAL AREA NETWORK (LAN) TECHNICIAN in the Information Services Department at Jamalco. 

Under the direction of the LAN Administrator, this position holder will:

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with LAN/WAN, servers, switches, computer workstations, network connections and peripheral equipment to support operational activities
• Maintain Active Directory objects and accounts
• Identify and resolve network system bottlenecks to ensure long term efficiency of network
• Perform software, hardware and network security compliance activities with appropriate testing, remediaition and documentation
• Assist in maintaining a high standard of network security via industry accepted practices
• Utilize network monitoring software to optimize server performance 
• Support telephony and VOIP systems
• Perform activities to support Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery processes

Qualifications and Experience:

To be considered you must have:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Systems, Information Systems or a related discipline
• Good technical knowledgE of Virtualization technologies
• Expert knowledg of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols and network technologies
• Minimum of three (3) years experience in providing network support services
