Job Description
Toronto is Canada’s largest city, the fourth largest in North America, and home to a diverse population of about 2.8 million people. Consistently ranked one of the world’s most livable cities, we are a global centre for business, finance, arts and culture. Join the award-winning Toronto Public Service as Labourer 3 (Student) within our Solid Waste Management Services Division.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Picks up, clears and/or disposes of litter, including but not limited to streets, laneways and walkways, including loose garbage, such as the removal of illegal notices, signs and posters.
  • Assist with cleanup for special events, such as parades, street closures.

Key Qualifications:
Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:
  1. Must be registered, and maintain registration, as a full time student at a recognized and accredited educational institution. (Written documentation will be required)

You must also:
  • Be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Be available to work rotating shifts, afternoons and weekends.
  • Be capable of understanding the Occupational Health and Safety Act, its regulations and training
  • Be physically capable of performing required duties
  • Be able to do shift work as required, in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
  • Be able to deal courteously with the public

This is a non-driving position and the term of employment will commence no earlier than May 1 and end no later than August 31. 

Any individual hired must comply with the Labourer 3/Student process as outlined in the CUPE Local 416 Collective Agreement.
