Commissioned Officers (Jamaica) - Jamaica Defence Force

Applications are invited from qualified persons to serve as Commissioned Officers in the JAMAICA DEFENCE FORCE. The requirements for selection are as follows:

Nationality: Jamaican citizen

Age Requirement: 
Eighteen to twenty-four (18 - 24) years old. Twenty-five (25) years old must hold a minimum of a first degree from an approved institution.

Medical and Physical Requirements:

Candidates sshould be fully immunized against: 

• Tuberculosis (BCG Vaccine)
• Polio
• Measles
• Mumps and Rubella (MMR)
• Diphteria
• Tetanus
• Hepatitis B and C.

The following ailments preclude (not eligible) candidates from enlistment:

• Asthma
• Scoliosis
• Hernia
• Abdominal Surgery
• Hypertension
• Clour Blindness
• Sickle Cell Treait or Disease
• Diabetes
• Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)
• Hepatitis
• Tuberculosis
• Human T-Lymphotropic Virus (HTLV)
• Significant Dental Caries
• Dental Malocclusion
• Flat Feert
• Bone or Joint deformities
• History of Mental Illness
• Obesity
• And any other significant illnesses

Height: 

Males: 173 cm or 5 ft 7 inches

Females: 157.5 cm or 5 ft 2 inches

Marital Status: Single

Minimum Academic Requirements:

Five (5) subjects (Caribbean Secondary Education (CSEC), General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE), Bahamas General Certificate of Secondary Educatyion (BGCSE), including English Langauge and Mathematics.

Two (2) CAPE (2 units for each subject) at grades 1 - 5 or Diploma that is accredited by University Council of Jamaica (UCJ).

Security Clearance:

Candidates should not have any criminal record or any court cases pending against them. Candidates who meet the requirements above will be vetted, which includes being fingerprinted.
