The Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of the largest distributors and retailers of beverage alcohol in Canada, generating a net income of approximately $1.08 billion on annual sales of approximately $3.3 billion in fiscal 2016/17. LDB has a workforce of approximately 4,000 full and part-time employees, operates 197 retail stores across the province, oversees the operations of approximately 220 Rural Agency Stores and has the role of wholesaler to approximately 700 private liquor retail outlets and 10,000 licensed establishments.

The LDB is a unique government entity that operates with similar independence to a Crown Corporation under the direction of a General Manager and CEO.
Under the direction of the Building Security Officer Supervisor, the Building Security Officer ensures compliance with all policies and procedures related to security and safety at the Branch Head Office, government liquor stores and distribution centres.  Provides security advice to store managers and employees throughout the province.  Operates a central alarm monitoring system which provides support to Branch facilities throughout the province.  Provides security support and the safe guarding of all Branch assets, employees, contractors, customers and business partners.

The position provides security support, monitoring and protection of Branch assets; employees, property, customers, contractors and business partners.

  • Corporate Loss Prevention Department’s Alarm technicians, Investigators, Emergency Program Manager, Manager Physical security – to report, coordinate and monitor responses to security situations
  • Real Estate Department’s Facilities maintenance management and staff – to provide security to premises and branch properties
  • Branch and Distribution Centres employees, visitors, contractors and general public and business partners – to provide security and direction to individuals in the premises
  • Local Police, Fire Department and Emergency Services employees and officials – to communicate and coordinate, on a need basis, in the event of situations that require external support.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 supplemented by security training – Basic Security Training 1 and Basic Security Training 2 (BST1 and BST2) through a recognized training school.  
  • Previous experience working in security or law enforcement, preferred.
 Knowledge

  • Thorough knowledge of Securities Agencies Act and Regulations, Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Patrol Duties & Responsibilities, Control Procedures, Fire Prevention, Detection and Safety.
  • Working knowledge of electronic and computerized alarm systems.
 Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to act in a disciplined and ethical manner, treating people fairly, equally and with respect; sensitivity to different communities and people.
  • Proven ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters using sound judgment, tact and diplomacy and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated Ability to investigate and report occurrences.
  • MS Office skills with an emphasis on Word, Excel and Outlook
