We are looking for individuals who have a great track record for leading teams to achieve operating targets and production standards, while maintaining top standards for service, quality and health and safety for the position of Supervisor Mail Processing. In this role you will work to maintain optimum productivity levels and use coaching, problem solving, positive reinforcement, task prioritizing and more to successfully lead a skilful team of employees in our operations facility. Job Responsibilities

  • Develop plans to meet daily, weekly and monthly goals, processing strategies and employees required to meet service commitments; continuously monitor staffing levels and workload, and adjust as necessary during the shift, taking into account the impact throughout the Plant; and understand and work towards the goals and vision of operations including productivity, customer service, cut-offs and quality
  • Promote and implement work place safety and health programs for the work unit including: coaching and directing employees on safe work practices in order to reduce accident frequency and severity; conducting inspections and investigations; reporting and following up on accident incidences or unsafe operating conditions; overseeing the return-to-work and accommodation of employees unable to perform the full range of duties in their job; participating in case review committee meetings as required; and participating as a member of the local health and safety committee
  • Direct, coach and provide guidance and leadership to employees, promote a respectful environment in the workplace, administer human resources processes such as staffing, performance management, disability management and attendance management, resolve staff issues including taking disciplinary action if required, consult with Labour Relations and/or union representatives on the application of the terms of the collective agreement including the management of first level grievances, and create learning and knowledge transfer opportunities for assigned staff
  • Evaluate current operational methods and procedures, recommend improvements to optimize operational efficiency, implement changes and communicate with support groups as required
  • Control and update data for reporting systems to ensure all Plant data requirements are met, analyze daily productivity reports to determine problems and trends, and share analysis and key indicator results with the team
  • Communicate frequently with the previous and post-shift Supervisors, provide a brief “recap” of key activities performed, and discuss any anomalies that occurred during the shift
  • Promptly respond to equipment failures, make adjustments to meet scheduled deadlines, prepare a report and notify Production Control and Reporting
  • Maintain employees’ time and leave to ensure accurate and timely pay for all employees, produce reports, resolve related data issues and perform other administrative tasks associated with a team leader role


Qualifications

EDUCATION
  • High School Diploma or provincial equivalent (GED) (Equivalent work experience, as defined below, may be accepted in lieu of a High School Diploma)
WORK EXPERIENCE
1.a) Minimum 1 year experience managing a team>
OR
1.b) Minimum 2 years experience working within a unionized environment

PLUS

2. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., understand the major features of each software application)
