Duties
Student - Visitor activities sectorStudents in the visitor activities sector are a key element of the Parks Canada visitor experience. They present all cultural heritage activities and interpretive services at national historic sites. The range of tasks includes welcoming visitors to collecting admission, leading diverse audiences on guided tours, and guiding school groups—calls for versatile, multitalented employees with outstanding people skills. Looking for adventure? Please note that students hired in positions at Grosse Île and the Irish Memorial National Historic Site must agree to live on site and will benefit of an isolation allowance.
Student - Actor
Actors-interpreters at Parks Canada give visitors the opportunity to meet pivotal figures from the past. They draw on their outstanding communication skills and acting abilities as well as the evocative power of period costumes to transport visitors into the past and create unforgettable experiences. Student – Finances and inventory management
Within the finances and administration department, the student will support the inventory of assets, their identification and disposal according to the Agency’s policy. The student will also support the accounts payable and receivable team by doing accounting tasks such as codification, data entry, invoices, filing, etc.
Student – External relations assistant
Within the external relations section, the student will provide support in producing various communication, promotional and online material. The student will also take part in preparing and implementing events. He/she must have a good level of proficiency in French (written and spoken) and be organized. The student must also be available for a part-time term in the fall.
Student - Maintenance assistant
The student will assist the maintenance team and building trades in accomplishing their different job responsibilities. Therefore, the student must be able to help the staff with work related to wood, masonry, paint and building services, as well as landscaping and housecleaning. The student must show excellent versatility, as well as high interest in team work. Please note that job openings are for Grosse Île and the Irish Memorial National Historic Site and students hired in these positions must agree to live on site. In return, they will benefit of an isolation allowance.

The Quebec Field Unit is responsible of overseeing the operation of six national historic sites located on both the North and the South shore of Quebec city; the Fortifications-of-Quebec, Saint-Louis-Forts-and Castles, Montmorency park, Cartier-Brebeuf, Levis Forts and Grosse-Île-and-the-Irish-Memorial. The sites located in the Old Quebec are components of the historical district of the Old Quebec, site of the UNESCO World Heritage.
