Work environment
Exceptional general office and administrative skills are required for this position encompassing a wide variety of functions such as data entry, transcribing, filing, accounting, and answering in-person and telephone inquiries.A person in this position may be exposed to graphic and disturbing material during the course of their duties. This person must be able to remain calm and professional during very stressful calls for service from the public.
Intent of the process
This process is intended to build the detachment's inventory to meet their future casual employment needs in similar vacancies, at either full-time, part-time, or as and when required. Casual employment is temporary employment of 90 working days or less, in a calendar year, to meet needs from such contingencies as vacations, sick and training leaves, to conduct special projects that are anticipated but dependent of the availability of funds. Individuals hired on a casual basis CANNOT work for more than 90 working days per calendar year within the RCMP, and CANNOT apply on internal opportunities asthey are NOT hired as Public Service Employees. There should be no expectation of continued employment following a casual employment contract.

As a condition of employment, the incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain valid RCMP Reliability Status. "RCMP Reliability Status" is a security clearance that will require your consent to complete a check of employment references, character references, criminal records check, credit check and law enforcement records check. A security interview will be conducted as well.Candidates are responsible for their own travel costs.
All essential criteria identified on the Statement of Merit Criteria will be assessed, either through your initial resume, tests, oral interview, and/or supervisory reference checks. Criteria identified as asset qualifications are preferred but might not be mandatory, depending upon the needs of the specific opportunity.
