The Court Services Branch is responsible for the delivery of all court administration services in BC, including registry, trial support and Sheriff Services. The Registry provides the infrastructure to support the justice system and processes documents that are required by the court to ensure timely and effective processing of court cases.

Flexibility and organization is key in this role as you provide numerous administrative services to the Court and Registry. The Court Clerk documents court proceedings; exercises control of exhibits; assists and briefs judges; and provides technical assistance for registry staff. Interacting with members of the public, the bar and the judiciary, you will be responsible for pre- and in-court duties including managing, distributing, completing and interpreting court documents and files and reviewing them for accuracy. A highly professional, discreet and experienced administrator, you will enjoy the challenge and the reward of ensuring the protection of the public in British Columbia.  Skilled in client service, you are professional when dealing with the public and difficult clients.  You will gain extensive experience in interacting with the judiciary, members of the legal profession, and justice system partners. You have a good grounding in office administration and possess the flexibility required to be a good Court Clerk.

Qualifications:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below: 
  • Secondary School graduation or equivalent.
  • Clerical experience, education and/or training.
  • Experience/training in keyboarding, data entry, word processing and other standard computer applications.
Preference may be given to the following:
  • Experience working in a legal office environment or court registry.
  • Experience with JUSTIN and/or CEIS.
  • Experience delivering customer service.

PROVISIOS: 
  • May be required to work overtime due to late court sittings and on short notice
  • May be required to work in other areas of Court Services
  • Travel is required which could include travel in adverse weather conditions
  • Must be flexible with working hours, hours of work vary depending on operational demands
  • Exposure to unpleasant dealings with upset public and clients
  • Holder of a valid B.C. driver’s licence
