The Jamaica Association for the Deaf (JAD) was established in 1938 and is deepening its commitment to serving the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities throughout Jamaica. Consequently, we are using strategy and innovation to become sustainable.
We are seeking a dynamic and pragmatic educational leader, who is deeply committed to the development of Deaf and Hard of Hearing persons, to assure their full participation in nation building. The Assistant School's Coordinator will be required to provide strong leadership for an ongoing process of reform in Dead Education. This individual will drive capacity development for delivery of quality education that increases the standard of output from the cluster of schools operated by JAD in partnership with the Ministry of Education.

We are seeking a dynamic and pragmatic educational leader, who is deeply committed to the development of Deaf and Hard of Hearing persons, to assure their full participation in nation building. The Assistant School's Coordinator will be required to provide strong leadership for an ongoing process of reform in Dead Education. This individual will drive capacity development for delivery of quality education that increases the standard of output from the cluster of schools operated by JAD in partnership with the Ministry of Education.
Duties include:
- Lend support to school administrators to develop school improvement plans (SIPs)
- Identify funding needs and create a programme budget
- Participate in school activities
- Prepare quarterly school reports
- Provide support for professional development of staff members
- Manage special projects to achieve strategic goals
- Monitor and evaluate outputs within the cluster of school
- Collaborate with Divisional Directors within the JAD leadership
Qualification and Experience:
- Trained teacher with a first degree
- At least three (3) years of experience in Special/Deaf Education
- Experience in leadership and management at a strategic level
- Thorough familiarity with the Jamaican Deaf Culture
- Excellent communication skills
- Fluency in Sign Language
Competencies:
- Interpersonal skills for building trust, influencing stakeholders, promoting networking and partnering
- management skills for analyzing needs and proposing solutions; driving results, thinking strategically and applying business skills
- Personal characteristics of adaptability and modeling of personal development
