Job Opportunity 

Forestry Controller 

The Forestry Controller will manage, implement and coordinate reforestation projects and programs to achieve self-sufficiency, renewable and sustainable supply of wood. The successful applicant will report to the Leaf Production Director.

Key responsibilities:-

• Compiles Forest Management Plan to help implement company forest activities.
• Manages the forestry contractor selection & supervision.
• Manages, implements and tracks the forestration work packages and monitors and evaluates plantation progress.
• Manages all the silvicultural operations in all plantations.
• Ensures that the KPIs are being met, and ensures that both company and Department of Forestry Forest Objectives are met.
• Compiles customer reports.
• Coordinates Customer invoicing and refunds and prepares and manages operational budgets.
• Facilitates audit by 3rd party auditors.
• Coordinates with Government on forestry concession.
• Collates and compiles the forestry activity report in conjunction with finance on expense tracking.
• Manages Alliance One Tobacco (Malawi) commercial farms woodlots and small holder woodlots.
• Manages firewood supply to small holder and Alliance One Tobacco (Malawi) farms.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Forestry.
• A minimum of 5— 10 years’ experience in Forestry
• Good knowledge of management.
• Interpersonal and Communication and report writing skills are essential.

The Person:-

• Must be a self-starter and be able to work under pressure with minimum supervision.
