  The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), Mid-Atlantic District is currently accepting applications under examining authority of 10 U.S.C., Section 2164. This announcement may be used for the purpose of filing mulitple position throughout the school year.

  
  

  This position is an Office Automation (OA) Clerk at Fort Buchanan Schools in Puerto Rico. The Office Automation Clerk performs office automation work, word processing, and a variety of clerical functions in support of the school to which assigned.

  A temporary limited appointment is non-permanent, non-status appointment to a position for a specified period of time not to exceed one calendar year. Temporary appointments are intended to meet legitimate non-permanent staffing needs. Examples of appropriate use of temporary appointments include:

  (1)  Filling a position to address a temporary workload peak or to complete a project;

  (2)  Meeting a staffing need that is scheduled to be terminated within the one year timeframe for reasons such as abolishment, reorganization, or contracting out of the function, anticipated reduction in funding.

  This is an Excepted Service Position with a Time-Limited Appointment. This is an Intermittent on-call position. This announcement may be used to fill multiple Intermittent Educational Aide positions throughout the 2017-2018 school year.

  Responsibilities

  
  

  Prepares a variety of correspondence, forms, reports, and statistical material. Responsible for correct format, spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Types transmittals, requests for supplies, forms, and other related material. Inputs and extracts information from an automated database, spreadsheet, or other software document.

  Performs basic fact-finding tasks, copies pertinent material, retrieves files, maintains inventory records, replenishes supplies, and makes telephone inquiries to obtain information. Organizes and maintains office files and records. Manages suspense files and internal administrative controls.

  Receives visitors, answers phone calls, and directs inquiries to the appropriate person. Responds to questions and inquiries to the school for which assigned. Makes travel arrangements, keeps time and attendance records, and opens and distributes mail.

  Typing Proficiency Requirement: In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must include a certificate of proficiency or self-certify that you can type at least 40 words per minute (wpm). Your resume must support your self-certification of your typing ability, otherwise you may not meet the minimum qualification requirements for this position. 

  
  

  Qualifications

  Applicants must possess: one year of general experience; or two years post-high school level education; or a combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.

  General experience is defined as progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

  The normal full-time work week is 35-40 hours and the normal work year is 12 months. Part-time work

  Part-Time or Unpaid Experience: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

  Education

  Post-high school level education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.  is prorated in crediting experience. An applicant demonstrating 20 hours per week for a 12-month period would be credited with 6 months of experience.
