The selectee for this position will serve as a LIBRARY TECHNICIAN in the LIBRARY'S CIRCULATION DEPARTMENT of NAVAL WAR COLLEGE.

Duties

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

• Use various bibliographic and reference tools to obtain information, determine availability of item, verify or correct discrepancies, or complete any missing information.
• Maintain copyright clearance, permission, and disapproval files adhering to requirements by the U.S .Code and copyright law.
• Serve as the functional focal point for the operation and maintenance of technical information.
• Validate the status and currency of technical documents to ensure latest version is provided.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume is the key means we have for evaluating your skills, knowledge, and abilities as they relate to this position. Therefore, we encourage you to be clear and specific when describing your experience.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting patrons at the circulation desk by answering questions; 2) Researching databases for bibliographic, publishing, and ownership information of books articles and other resources; and 3) Maintaining daily statistics in a spreadsheet to track information.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

The job requires some long periods of standing, regular and recurring physical exertion, bending, crouching, stooping, reaching, and lifting moderately heavy items (books, boxes).

Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
