Our Technology and Innovation Team is seeking to identify a qualified, reliable, forward thinking, highly ambitious and self-motivated candidate to join its Technology Infrastructure team as an IT Specialist- Technical Services at our Knutsford Boulevard location – Kingston

CORE Functions:

This position is responsible for supervising the database and system administration teams. This individual also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure infrastructure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelors of Science in Computer Science or equivalent OR a minimum of six (6) years direct experience administrating the direction, development, and implementation of infrastructure solutions on the following platforms: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Windows Server, Red Hat Linux, Citrix.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Certifications in Citrix Netscaler and XenApp
• Certifications in VMware and Oracle
• Knowledge of Storage Area Network (SAN) technologies.
• Knowledge of network and firewall technologies.
• Training in Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Experience working with Microsoft Azure

Core responsibilities include:

• Supervise major infrastructure projects across enterprise.
• Technically fluent in server and OS administration, including Windows Server 2008 R2 and above and Red Hat Linux.
• Knowledge of networking infrastructures, including LAN, WAN, VPN, etc.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy Management.
• Implement policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure IT Infrastructure security through secure system access, monitoring, control, and routine security evaluations.
• Perform tasks necessary to fulfill service level agreements with end users regarding IT infrastructure availability and security including file system and database configuration and management.
• Knowledge of Database Technologies including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and MYSQL.
• Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on server and storage infrastructure.
• Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for IT infrastructure to ensure reduction of OPEX spend while supporting the growth of the organization.
• Assist with cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.
• Enforce Change Management policies and ensure effectiveness of all server environments.
• Ensure successful and timely daily backups for relevant services and applications.

The incumbent is expected to demonstrate the following competencies at a high level in order to successfully accomplish the requirements of the position:

• Well-developed communication skills – oral, written, listening.
• Must have excellent leadership, interpersonal, and motivation skills.
• Expert level knowledge of standard Project Management tools (Microsoft Project, Visio and Microsoft Office Suite)
• Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
• Good project management skills.
• Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
• Ability to research application issues and products
