Experienced Police Constable (Cayman Islands) - Royal Cayman Islands Police Service

Salary range: CI$39,732 – CI$53,436 per annum
(US$49,665 - $66,795.00 per annum)
The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service is seeking experienced Police Constables to complement its Uniformed operations. The post holder will be required to perform general policing duties as a part of district operations including proactive patrols, responses and provide coaching or mentoring to officer or staff engaged in a law enforcement role. A minimum of 4 to 5 years’ experience in the relevant areas.

Qualification, Experience and Skills:

• Clean Driver’s License, no criminal convictions
• Required to attend and pass annual officer safety training and first aid training
• Completion of a two years probationary period, which includes a 17 week induction course inclusive of academic and physical requirements, coupled with continuous professional development or equivalent training and/ or experience;
• A Force Driver’s License
• RCIPS Investigators Course or equivalent
• Basic and advanced boat handling and navigational courses (for Marine Unit); or equivalent (optional)
• Completion of the National Police Firearms Training Curriculum (NPFTC) Compliance
• Meet standards of an international Authorized Firearms Officer;
• Meet standards of an international Armed Response Vehicles;
• Professional knowledge of Firearms legislation, money laundering regulations and policy;
• Working with dogs and ability to demonstrate discipline and command following training (if assigned to Canine Unit);
• Anti-money laundering training (if assigned to Financial Crimes Unit);
• Basic Sun guard Training or commitment to achieve this if trained overseas.
• Excellent Communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution
• Strong problem solving and decision making skills
• Acts with integrity, respect & dignity toward all persons
• Flexible and Adaptable Preferred
• Professional qualification in Law/Criminal Justice or similar
• First Aid qualifications

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• General and Community Policing, and Investigations
• Patrol and respond to calls for service/enforcement of law
• Conduct searches and arrests without infringing on Human Rights
• Conduct investigations and forfeitures in response to SARS reports and prepare affidavits for court injunctions where appropriate
• Ensure traffic law enforcement and targeting enforcement of road safety practices
• Preparation and submission of case files to DPP for prosecution and provide expert evidence in court as applicable.
• Keep records up to date, including TRS, and other daily reports
• Provide crime prevention advice and victim care, support and assurance
• Works with Community leaders and groups to curb crime.
