The Selective Service System (SSS) is an independent agency whose mission is to (1) maintain a system that can promptly and efficiently furnish untrained manpower for induction into the Armed Forces during a national emergency and (2) provide an Alternative Service Program to men classified as conscientious objectors during a draft.

This position is part of the Selective Service System, Selective Service System. The incumbent will be responsible forproviding general office support for assigned SSS organization.

Duties

As a STUDENT INTERN (ADMIN SUPPORT), GS-0399-3 in the Pathway Program, you will perform a variety of administrative and technical assignments. These entry-level candidates will perform mission support duties and provide greatly needed resources to the agency. Typical work assignments (under supervision) may include:

• Maintain files and records database of all actions taken to ensure compliance with guidelines and rules.
• Prepare materials for presentation/publication including charts, graphs, and spreadsheets.
• Process incoming and outgoing mail and/or packages to and from express courier services.
• Receive and return telephone calls, receive visitors, and refer inquires to the appropriate office personnel.

Qualifications

Basic Requirement:
Must be a degree seeking student in a bachelor's degree, graduate degree, or post-graduate degree program at an accredited college or university. Applicant must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment on at least a half-time basis as defined by the accredited college or university. Must be in good academic standing.

Minimum Qualification:
A. Possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-02 level in Federal service performing duties related to the position to be filled for example using word processing software to produce a variety of memoranda, letters, reports, etc.; utilizing office equipment and software to facilitate the work of the office (i.e. database, spreadsheet, slide producers etc.); routing mail; answering phones and responding to inquiries;

B. I have successfully completed 1 full academic year of post-high school study.
