The incumbent is responsible for providing program support in the accomplishment of a variety of administrative duties essential to the operation cemetery.

This announcement is a solicitation for applications from current VA employees and 30% or more disabled veterans. In the AFGE/VA Master Agreement the FIRST area of consideration for this position will be permanent employees of the Department of Veterans Affairs and the SECOND area of consideration will be 30% or more disabled veterans.
Duties
"This position is subject to the hiring freeze under the Presidential Memorandum, dated January 23, 2017. This vacancy announcement is being posted for recruitment and qualifications determination. We are moving forward with the evaluation and consideration of candidates. If you are determined to be among the best qualified group of candidates, you may be interviewed. However, we will not extend an offer of employment for this vacancy announcement unless and until the position is no longer subject to the hiring freeze or the hiring freeze is lifted."
The primary duties include record management and receiving visitors and telephone calls. Determines the nature and urgency of the contact and refers them to the appropriate contacts/locations. He/she also provides information, schedules appointments, and ensures that matters are promptly brought to the attention of the appropriate contact. Will be required to represent the National Cemetery at burial services on a daily basis. Maintains records and a tracking system to ensure that deadline dates are fully met. Establishes office procedures to facilitate and support the office mission. Composes and prepares correspondence in standard formats, and records information related to Daily Logs, Payroll and Progress Payments. Files correspondence; and maintains suspense file/tracking calendar on reports due to ensure all are submitted within the allowed time frame. Keeps office equipment inventory, and serves as the time and attendance point of contact for the cemetery.
Serves as a Cemetery Representative approximately 35% of the time; duties include but are not limited to: maintaining control of traffic to the cemetery, directing funeral corteges so as to keep all family members together, assisting with lifting of basket and carrying urns (up to 50 pounds), accompanying family members to committal shelters and gravesites, providing veteran burial information to family members and visitors, assisting visitors and family members locating gravesites. Performs public outreach as needed. Work Schedule: Required to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. May include occasional weekends. Due to the mission of the National Cemetery, the cemetery cannot be closed for more than 2 consecutive days at any given time. Additionally, when a Federal holiday falls on a Monday or Friday, staff may be required to work on that holiday or a Saturday. All staff is required to work Memorial Day and Veteran's Day each year. Staff will be required to work overtime, weekends and holidays when necessary to meet the needs of the cemetery. Occasionally staff may be called back to the facility to perform emergency overtime work.
