This position is located at Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey. Nestled in the northern New Jersey Highlands, our team of more than 6,000 personnel includes Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, U.S. Federal employees and contractor personnel who lead in the research, development, acquisition and lifecycle management of advanced conventional weapon systems and ammunition. This rural but active area of New Jersey is only 35 miles west of New York City. Locally, employees enjoy four seasons of recreation, outstanding night life, great schools, and a wonderful community atmosphere. Located close to the beach, city and mountains the Picatinny NAF Personnel office currently seeking a candidate for a Human Resources Assistant (NAF/Developmental) position who possesses NAF HR experience. Should also be customer service focused, adaptable and a quick/willing learner with initiative and drive. This is a developmental position NF-02/NF-03. Position can be filled ether at NF-02 or NF-03 level if received qualified/experienced applicants.

Duties

Assists higher graded staff in processing a variety of routine human resource tasks requiring knowledge of Nonappropriated Fund (NAF) civilian personnel rules and regulations. Assists in the preparation and processing of documents related to NAF employment. Initiates pre-employment screening processes and clears candidates for employment. Facilitates onboarding orientations, establishes and maintains files, folders and correspondence.

This is a developmental position leading to the full performance level of NF-0203-03 as described in either position description number 19549 (NAF/Generalist). Assignments are selected to ensure the development of skills and abilities needed to perform the target level duties. A prescribed agenda of formal/informal classroom and on-the-job training and self-development are completed as set forth in an Individual Development Plan. The employee works under closer than normal supervision wherein work is closely reviewed and detailed guidance provided as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - NF-02:
Possess six (6) months of progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, which demonstrates the ability to accomplish various human resources tasks and utilize human resource information systems.

Minimum Qualifications - NF-03:
Possess six (6) months of work experience in a human resources profession demonstrating the capability to perform a variety of recruitment support, employee relations support or personnel action processing functions.
Possess prior experience using Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and the ability to work with a variety of human resources information systems.

Highly Preferred:
1. In addition to above minimum qualification requirements, applicants will possess prior work experience will be in a NAF Human Resources Office.
2. Human Resources experience gained through work performed in the Federal Government.
